In October, Nairobi is such a beautiful place to be! The sun is out, jacaranda trees are blooming like no one’s business and oranges are in plenty so the flu season is kind of over! I’m sitting here by the window thinking about what series I’m going to binge tonight as I write this post. I feel too lazy to wake up from my favorite seat, I switch on the Tv and find Hawaii Five-O going on and I get excited just seeing the main character, Steve McGarrett running around chasing bad guys with his sweaty muscles and ten minutes later I begin to hear my stomach rumble and it just hit me when wrestlers are about to fight there’s always a guy who says Lets get ready to RAMBLE!! Hahaha, forget my love for wrestling (back to the main story)……..
Even Kitchen people hate the kitchen at times, it gets exhausting at times. The hustle and bustle in the kitchen isn’t for everyone. Ironically, we still want something soooooooooooo exquisite, but on some days we are just too tired or just too lazy to make a dish that will take time. This makes to the top three easiest recipes, for me anyway! Burgers are very easy to make, one can experiment with different recipes and combine with loads of flavors in just one dish.
I make three to four burgers in just thirty minutes depending on the flavors I want to achieve. This just shows you how easy it is to make one.
- 1 juicy tomato.
- Onion rings, about four pieces or more (the onions are optional, depends with ones taste buds).
- 1 beef patty.
- 2 tablespoons of any stout beer.
- Half tablespoon of herbal salt.
- A pinch of sweet chili spice.
- An egg.
- 3 pinches of herbal salt.
- a tablespoon of mayonnaise.
- 1 tablespoon of mustard sauce.
- 5 tablespoons of milk.
- a tablespoon of cooking oil.
- A burger bun.
In a separate bowl, add in the pinch of sweet chili spice, 2 pinches of herbal salt and make sure to apply on both sides of the beef patty. In the same bowl, pour in the stout beer and let the beef soak the beer for 30 secs each side and put it aside. I love to use beer because it adds earthly favors to beef or stew especially. It also makes the meat taste like they have been simmering for hours. Don’t worry about getting drunk, because the alcohol evaporates while cooking.
On a hot grill pan place circularly cut tomatoes and let it sweat for a minute, on both sides. On the same pan, you can also place the onion rings(white onion, optional) and also let them saute while cooking, let them turn to golden brown. Afterward, remove the tomatoes and onions and place them aside. Place the beef patty on the grill pan and let it cook for 2 minutes on each side. On the top part, place your slice of cheese on the beef and as it cooks the cheese also softens. When ready, remove and place aside.
Beat your egg and pour in the milk and add your herbal salt. Place it on the pan and let it cook for a minute without even turning, the egg shall be tender and fluffy. A secret to tender and tasty eggs is by adding milk to it.
The bottom part of the bun, apply one tablespoon of mustard sauce and place the leafy lettuce. Then, place the beef patty with cheese on it, balance it well, then place the egg on it. The last ensemble item is the fried tomatoes(soft and tender). The top bun, apply the mayonnaise and sprinkle the pinch of black pepper and place it on the ‘burger tower’ to make it a beautiful creation of art called Burger.
